Beth, & Kim and I have been friends for YEARS! If you add them all up, we will have been friends for more than 60 years combined!! (37 with Beth & 24 with Kim!)

We have talked about taking a girls trip for at least the last 6 years, however, we never planned it. In the fall of 2019, Beth was diagnosed with cancer & while we held our breath through surgery, chemo & radiation, Beth fought this battle with an army behind her! We are so thankful to God, that she came out VICTORIOUS!!

After hearing one of your oldest and dearest friends get a cancer diagnosis, we knew we had to act on our girls trip. Sadly, we we couldn’t go in the summer of 2020 due to COVID, so we planned on the summer of 2021 & what better place to celebrate than Las Vegas, Nevada!

We headed out on the first flight that morning. We were SO EXCITED!!!!

The infamous BNA carpet
We LOVE our Golden Girls masks!
Kim was so sad that she couldn’t find her mask. We got asked by several people where we got them.
Early morning flights call for naps on the plane.
We are on our way!
Flying over the Rocky Mountains
Somewhere over Arizona
Flying over the Grand Canyon
We made it!

Once we landed, grabbed our luggage & car, we headed to the Famous Las Vegas sign!

Because Las Vegas is two hours behind us & we left our houses around 5:15 AM, we were ready for breakfast! We ate at the yummiest little place called The Squeeze In. They had so many options for breakfast & lunch and they had an alien as their mascot! Check out the ceiling tiles! Aliens & Elvis & Priscilla!

L-R: Veggie bowl with veggie pattie, Lake Taco, & Bust-A-Move

After filling up on a delicious breakfast, we headed out to Lake Mead, but not before we stopped & hung out with a few Bighorn Sheep!

Right down the road from these beauties, was Lake Mead, affectionately given the name “The Mead”. Even though the water was at some of its lowest, the red rock, with the light stone and blue water, make for some AMAZING scenery!

We drove down to the lake & headed over to the marina. We ended up walking through really soft sand & Kim’s shoe got stuck in the sand! It was super windy & we were laughing so hard we started crying! We saw fish that ranged from 8 inches long to well over 3 feet long! One guy started feeding them cereal & they went CRAZY! It was like watching a bunch of piranha feed!

We went in the store to grab a few waters, and decided to sit down for a while at the restaurant.

After a quick break to quench our thirsts, we drove around the lake & stopped at a few beaches. There were people on jet skis and in kayaks. We couldn’t get over how windy it was!

After we spent time at Lake Mead, we drove over to Hoover Dam. Lake Mead & Hoover Dam are really close together & if you are in Las Vegas, you don’t want to miss either!

If you rub the feet, it is supposed to bring you good luck.

On our last stop of the day, we visited Seven Magic Mountains. It’s in the middle of the desert & if you decide to visit Las Vegas, make sure you do so before the end of 2021, as it will be going away. The bright colors against the brown, dry desert were so gorgeous!!!

After a LONG day of travel & sightseeing, we were ready to get hot showers & eat some dinner! We checked into our hotel, cleaned up & headed to dinner. We were SO HUNGRY!

We decided to check out our hotel before eating dinner. It was GORGEOUS!! We made our way down to Black Tap. The line was long but thankfully there were three open seats at the bar. We started chatting with the bartenders & servers- they were AWESOME! We loved it so much we decided to come back again for dessert! After dinner we made a swing through the Venetian where Kim got a yummy birthday cake flavored macaron. DELISH! We turned in for the night to head out on our adventure the next day!

One of our favorite places to eat- Black Tap. And my yummy salad with impossible burger. SO, SO GOOD!

Thursday morning we woke up early & made our way to The Grand Canyon.

I never tire of seeing this view!
The Colorado River looks so tiny!

After lots of walking, we made our way back to Las Vegas, but first we stopped in Williams at a place called Grand Canyon Brewing & Distillery. I don’t think we said ten words to each other when our food got there! We scarfed it down like we hadn’t eaten in weeks! And it was SO GOOD!

After a few more hours on the road, blasting out music, singing & dancing like we did in our college days, and watching the gorgeous sunset, we topped the hill and saw the city lights lit up in the valley. It was amazing! (this is the best image we could do in a moving car)

The nighttime view from our hotel

We got changed and headed back to Black Tap for some of their yummy desserts! When we were there last, we saw a couple that ordered a huge milkshake with a full slice of cake on it! Kim is a big birthday cake fan & we chatted about it on the way back so we KNEW we had to stop in!

The BEST fried pickles!
Can you believe this is vegan?!
They were fantastic! We miss you Sunny! Come to Nashville!!

With Friday being our last full day in Las Vegas, we decided to hit a buffet, check out the hotels & do some shopping, then later we lounged near the pool, came back to play 5 Second Rule and laughed so hard we were all in tears! We then changed clothes and headed out for the night.

There were so many desserts!
One of my favorite hotels! I love the fountains & the interior!
Our last elevator ride up.

On Saturday we took our time and headed down to the pool restaurant Capri for a quick bite. Their food was SO YUMMY! And I couldn’t pass up the avocado toast & watermelon bowl. Their detox juice was delicious!

Goodbye Las Vegas! Hope to see you soon!
On our way home
When Kim lived in Texas, she would eat at Whataburger. She was so excited there was one in the Dallas airport!
Almost home!
We were so excited to see our sweet husbands at the airport!

Beth, Kim & I had SO MUCH FUN on our much needed girls trip! We laughed so hard we cried, then we laughed some more! We ate WAY too much, walked over 14 miles and saw some INCREDIBLE sites! The first annual GGGT (Golden Girls Girls Trip) is officially in the books!

And I CAN’T WAIT for the next one!

Sounds like fun!! Beautiful pictures, and it sounds like the food itself was worth making the trip! 😄
