Deidre and Adam were total rock stars! They dealt with heat, humidity, mangled tree roots on the path, bugs, weeds, and walking over a mile (with the aforementioned combined), just to get to the open field. The whole way there they had smiles on their faces and were laughing, and telling funny stories!
We started out at Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park. This is a special place to both Deidre and Adam, as they would come here to walk, hike, or just enjoy the openness and rushing waterfalls.
Look what we saw?! A sweet doe & her PRECIOUS little fawn! It was the teeniest, tiniest little thing EVER!!!
Adam and Dee met in March of 2017. He’s an engineer and she’s a writer. But their personalities compliment each other well. They had their first date at Coffee Cafe in Manchester, Tennessee. It obviously went pretty great! Deidre remembers Adam as being easy to talk to and she was happy that he also loves cats. The pair soon became inseparable. They enjoy cooking together, spending time with their three cats (Smoke, Tilly and Millie), trying new restaurants and cocktails, going to the gym on occasion and traveling.
That’s the short version….
Even though they “met” on a dating app, they actually knew of each other already because they had mutual friends/had come across each other’s photos on Facebook. Plus they both worked for the Department of Defense. Aside from emailing, their paths had never crossed before. Deidre had actually written an article about Adam and his colleague’s conference trip to Poland for the base newspaper. She remembers being annoyed that neither of them had a photo of themselves by a monument or out being touristy while there. “Who doesn’t take photos on vacation?”
Right?
In the base paper they ended up running a photo of just a lone monument against a gray sky. Deidre said, “it wasn’t a good photo at all.”
“I think after this interaction or maybe actually before then, I had asked my friend Andrea (who also works at Arnold Air Force Base) if she knew Adam and whether he was single… (yep! we’ve ALL done that before with our friends!) and she did know who he was but said she was pretty sure he was dating someone. So I thought “well dang.” And that was that.”
Or so she thought…..
Fast forward to a year or so later and she runs across his profile on a dating app. Deidre said, “I didn’t have anything original to say so I was just like “Hi, Adam!” (It gives you just first names on the app) and we texted for a while and after about a week of chatting we went on a date.”
Their first date was at the Coffee Cafe in Manchester, so we HAD to stop by! Unfortunately the cafe was closed, but the story Deidre told me about their first date was really cute!
“On our first date, I only ordered a salad, but didn’t really eat much. (We ALL understand those first date jitters!) After we parted ways, I headed to my mom’s and was starving! I started eating anything I could!”
“In the beginning, we kind of acted like we didn’t know who the other was but later it all came out that we had Facebook stalked each other and both thought the other was good looking. It’s a pretty funny story I think.”
I think so too!
Deidre & Adam are a really goofy and fun couple. “We’re weirdos. We joke that we’re the same person because we’ll have the same thought or same song stuck in our head.”
“We really like live music. He loves Dave Matthews Band and I introduced him to Bonnaroo. This summer will be my eighth year and now his third at the festival.” If you’ve never heard of, or attended Bonnaroo, it’s a HUGE music festival in Manchester, TN. Traffic is crazy & there are thousands of people as far as the eye can see! But the music line-up is PHENOMENAL!
Want to hear how he proposed?
“Adam and I had just returned home from having dinner at my parents’ and I was standing at the kitchen sink washing dishes. I was giving him a hard time about not having the ring yet and he said that he did already have it.”
“I thought he was joking around. But nope he left the kitchen and came back with a box and when he opened it up it was one of the rings I had picked out when we went to ring shop a month before. I was so surprised!”
Deidre and Adam are getting married in the fall, and I am so excited that I get to celebrate with them! This is going to be such a fun wedding!
Congratulations Deidre & Adam!
