I hope you all enjoyed the first week of Nashville!
Our first stop this week is Ginger Thai off of Thompson Lane. One of my brides told me about this place (they have a second location in Murfreesboro), and she and her fiancé raved about it! They are located at 2861 Logan Street, not far from the Briley/I-24 exit. If you get to Nolensville Rd., you’ve gone too far.
They have several pages on their menu & there are lots of things for vegans & vegetarians alike. We started off with the tofu & veggie fresh rolls with peanut sauce. We fell in love with these when we were in Florida several years ago, and if we see them on a menu, we make sure to order them. You can get them with tofu, veggies, or any meat of your choice. If you’ve never had Thai tea- get it!!! You can order it with or without cream. Jason opted for no cream, so I could have a few sips. I didn’t order it (even though I LOVE IT), because I am sensitive to caffeine, and it was already after 2PM. If you’ve never tried it, it has a sweet and smokey flavor. It’s strong, but not as strong as Thai coffee.
Our next stop is Cumberland Park. If you head downtown, and walk under the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, you’ll find it. They have tables for picnics and grass for running around and hanging out. Kids can run under the waterfalls and get squirted with water. It’s free to enjoy! Their “sprayground” hours are: May 24 – September 1:
Monday – Saturday 9 am – 7 pm
Sunday noon – 6 pm
Oh The Wild Cow. Jason & I have been eating here since they opened. They are located in East Nashville (right around the corner from Five Daughters Bakery). Everything we’ve eaten here has been yummy!! I ordered the Chipotle & Black bean Burrito, with added vegan nacho cheese on top. You can get cheese on the inside if you’d like. My side of choice was garlicky kale. Some of our favorite eats there have been: The Patty Melt, The French Dip, The Philly, The Veggie Burger, Buffalo Beans & Greens (extra ranch!), and the sides that you must try are: Pineapple Slaw, Buffalo Tempeh Strips, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Garlic Kale, and the Queso. They also have desserts made my local bakers, one being Vegan Vee. Her bakery is dedicated gluten free. The Wild Cow is meat free, but trust me, you won’t miss it! They have items listed as soy-free, and gluten free, but GF items are not made in a separate location, therefore there may be cross-contamination.
I couldn’t leave this week without having a sweet, creamy treat! Just steps from The Wild Cow, is Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. They are located at 1892 Eastland Ave. Other Nashville locations are: In the 12 South location- 2312 12th Avenue South, The Farmers Market- 900 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., and in Hillsboro Village at 1819 21st Ave S. Even though they are headquartered in Ohio, they have scoop shops in Nashville. Their flavors are unique and there are some you don’t want to miss out on. I was thrilled to find they had dairy-free options & not just sorbet. I chose Texas Sheet Cake, and Roasted Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam. They were DELISH!
