I started out at Stay Golden Restaurant & Roastery. They are located in the Design District at 2934 Sidco Dr. #130 Nashville, TN. Their second location is in East Nashville at 901 Woodland St. Nashville, TN. The coffeehouse was very bright, warm and inviting. They have lots of yummy things on their menu, however, I opted for the hot chai tea latte with oat milk, and a half portion of the avocado toast hold the egg. Man, was it scrumptious! The sunflowers seeds gave it a nice crunch, and the sourdough bread was so soft! *Be sure to squeeze the lemon on your toast for a nice added zip!
I couldn’t talk about places to eat in Nashville without including The Southern V. What started out an as a in-home bakery turned into a brick and mortar restaurant with DELICIOUS vegan southern food. Trust me when I say, there is NOTHING on the menu that you won’t like! The owners and food magicians of this glorious place are Tiffany & Clifton Hancock.
They serve brunch and dinner and are open 9AM-12PM, and then again from 1PM-5PM. I’ve eaten their mac ‘n cheeze (TRUST that you’ll want to eat a GALLON of this stuff!), fried chick’n, apple pie a la mode, ribs and biscuits. All super yummy! Today, Jason & I snagged the Nashville hot chick’n biscuit, with tempeh bacon (me), and the regular chick’n biscuit with mushroom gravy, add tempeh bacon (Jason).
Nashville is known for their hot chicken, and if I ate meat, I’d be all over this, but thanks to The Southern V, I’m not missing out on anything! It was so yummy, spicy and the biscuits melted in your mouth! I had bites of Jason’s chick’n biscuit with mushroom gravy….just like eating at your Southern grandmother’s house!
Did you really think I could go someone where that offered vegan doughnuts, and NOT get any?!
We grabbed a few of the Genesis, and Jason ordered an apple fritter. The image doesn’t do it justice, but the fritter was twice the size of my hand!!
Just down the road from The Southern V, located in Germantown, is Tempered Cafe & Chocolate. This was our first time here, but we will for sure be back! If you love all things chocolate, then you’ve come to the right place. They have several varieties of truffles, candy bars, as well as coffee, brunch, lunch, and beer, wine & non-alcoholic drinks in the Green Hour Absinth Lounge. They have a small patio out front and tables and chairs inside. They are located at 1201 5th Avenue N. across the street from Germantown Cafe & The Red Bicycle. Stop by Tempered and pick up a sweet treat for your sweetheart, and grab some goodies for yourself as well!
I hope you’ve enjoyed week five in our Nashville summer series. Remember, it doesn’t cost much, and you never know what you will find. So get out, and become a tourist in your hometown!©
