Having your senior pictures taken is a BIG DEAL! This is the last year of high school before you head off to college, vocational school, travel or start working. You want to make the most out of your session & the last thing you want is for your images to not be what you invisioned.
Here are some tips on how to get the MOST out of your session!
Spray tans (PLEASE avoid tanning beds altogether!!) no matter how professional they are, can settle around ankles, in the creases of fingers and wrists and on the back of the neck. The camera picks up EVERYTHING and incase we get a few sprinkles or you get a bit sweaty, spray tans will cause streaking on the skin. This is NOT the look you are going for. Natural skin photographs beautifully! Let’s celebrate it & show it off!!
2. DON’T get a big chop a few days before
Having your ends trimmed always makes your hair look fresh, however, going for a cut and getting several inches cut off, deciding on a bob or pixie cut is a drastic change.
3. Changing your hair color
If you have naturally dark brown hair & want to go blonde for your images, that process takes several steps and you may not like the outcome if the process was rushed. If you do want to go for a slight change, speak to your stylist about a gradual change like highlights and/or lowlights.
4. Starting a new skincare routine or getting a chemical peel
Your skin takes time to adjust to a new routine, no matter how gentle. This could leave you with dry or bumpy skin. Also, getting a treatment such as a chemical peel, micro-needling or laser treatment can leave your skin red and maybe even a little puffy. Even over exfoliation could leave you with uneven patches.
5. NOT trying on all of your outfits beforehand
What once was your favorite t-shirt, may be faded and pilling, which in not flattering on camera. Your favorite dress looks great on, but when you’re sitting is now bunched up and tight. Try on all of your outfits and outfit combos before your session to see what looks best.
You want your senior session to be fun and memorable. You don’t want to look back at your images and wish you would have waited on a big chop or starting a new skin care routine. These are five easy tips to help you get the most out of your senior session!
