We’ve had LOTS of rain and thunderstorms here in Middle Tennessee! Downed trees, broken fences, ripped off shingles and power outages. Jason and I were able to get ahead of the storm on Saturday & head to Graze in East Nashville for a yummy brunch. They are completely plant-based and serve brunch and dinner. They’re located at 1888 Eastland (right there in the same location as Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and The Wild Cow. )

I ordered the Chorizo Con Papas Burrito & Jason got the Tempeh Scramble Brunch Bowl. We also ordered two cauliflower sausage patties. They were seasoned so nicely!

Located right next door to Graze, at 1886 Eastland Ave., is Ugly Mugs Coffee & Tea. I’m always up for a good chai tea (I drink it hot even in the sweltering heat). We decided to get it to go because we had several things to do that day & didn’t have time to hang out in the coffee shop. Ugly Mugs also serves local bakery items such as coffee cake, cinnamon rolls & pastries.

After we left Ugly Mugs, we found ourselves at Kernels. If you haven’t ever tried Kernels, you are in for a treat! Kernels is located at 2501B Gallatin Avenue, Nashville, TN 37206. They’re hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11AM-6PM. They serve local favorites like Nashville Hot (a take on Nashville Hot Chicken), Frosty, Sweet Heat, Chocolate Drizzle, Vanilla Cinnamon, and several mixes (Eastside Mix, Magik Mix, Midtown Mix, Rocky Top Mix and Music City Mix.) They also have seasonal flavors. When we visited, their flavor of the month was Lemon Cake. We were BLOWN AWAY by how incredibly AMAZING it tasted!! If you love lemon and are near Kernels, you must give it a try! But fair warning…you won’t want to stop eating it!

Kernels has been featured on Tennessee Crossroads and is owned and run by three sisters. Stop in & taste a sample, but believe me. You won’t leave empty handed!

I hope you enjoyed week two in our Nashville Summer Series.

It doesn’t cost much, and you never know what you will find. So get out, and become a tourist in your hometown!©

xoxo,

Neely
