The couple and their closest family and friends experienced a relaxed micro wedding in Frankfort, KY. Cheers to love in the heart of Kentucky’s capital city!

My husband Jason met Kyle when he moved back to Kentucky in 7th grade, and they instantly became best friends. They were on the soccer team, were always staying at each others houses, hung out after school, played video games, cruised around town, and talked about wrestling. I think they even had some signature moves as well as their own stage names.

Time had passed after the two headed off to college, but they stayed in touch via the wonders of the internet and social media. We would go to Kentucky a few times to hang out with Kyle or give him a call when we were in the area.

In December of 2019, we were in Lexington for a photo session. I remember Jason saying “Kyle will be meeting us for lunch, and he’s bringing someone.” My eyes got big, and I had a million questions, to which my husband replied “I don’t know.” (What?! How do you not know this stuff?)

I remember sitting at the restaurant when Kyle and Jennifer walked in. Of course it’s always good to see Kyle, but within five minutes of chatting with Jennifer, a little voice in my head said “there is something about her!” “I like her a lot!”

After lunch, we said our goodbyes and got in the car. No sooner had the door closed and I looked at Jason & said “Oh my gosh! She is perfect! Tell Kyle she is awesome! Should I send him a message?” (said with MUCH enthusiasm!) I’m pretty sure I was talking super fast because Jason was looking at me funny. “OK, then YOU send him a message and tell him how awesome she is!” He messaged Kyle later that day.

In mid-March, we headed back to Kentucky to celebrate Kyle’s birthday with pizza and ax throwing! At the restaurant, Jennifer and I walked up to the counter to order our food, and while we waited she told me they had been talking about getting married. (internally squealing!) “How exciting!!!” They also recently bought a house and were in the process of selling two houses and moving. WHEW!

Rain was expected during the week of the wedding. As the day got closer, the rain chance increased. The night before the wedding, there were possibilities of thunderstorms and tornado watches. Kyle and Jennifer moved their venue from outdoors to indoors at the beautiful Elizabeth. This venue was stunning! It was a former Catholic church that had been converted into a wedding and event space.

Kyle and Jennifer’s micro wedding was sweet and sentimental. They involved their children- Kyle’s son being the best man, and his two daughters reading scripture and a poem, while Jennifer’s daughter was a bridesmaid and her son lovingly escorted his mother down the aisle.
They all actively participated in the lighting of the unity candle, symbolizing their unity as a family of 7.

A delicious lunch was catered by Fork, Knife and Spoon, and they also created a beautiful and yummy wedding cake!

Surrounded by their family and friends, they spoke their sweet vows, shared a few laughs and promised each other “forever.”

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Thompson!

We had a few sprinkles when we were outside. Thankfully the rain showers happened during the ceremony and reception.
