Shanah is one of my seniors on my Experience Team. She knew right away that she wanted a big open field and a creek. I had just the place for her! She started out in hair & makeup, then headed south to Franklin, TN.
For Shanah’s senior photos, we made our way to South 40 Farms in Franklin, Tennessee. I love this location as it offers a wide variety of natural backgrounds in one place. With open fields, various flower spots, a creek, a swing, barns, fence rows, and a pond, it’s an ideal setting for seniors who want a mix of classic and outdoor images. The creek area brings a different feel to the session, depending on what season you are in. The rocks, smooth water, and shade create such fun images! Because we were in a bit of a dry spell, the water was low; however, we still managed to get some great shots, even though we both walked through yucky, squishy, wet leaves and mud. Thank goodness for water shoes!
I loved the dress Shanah chose! And looking at her images- aside from the leaves, you’d never know these were taken at the end of October! That light and warmth gave a mid-summer feel! Even though the water was calm, we still had to be careful, as there were slick spots. And no one wants to fall into a creek at the start of their senior photos (or any time, really).
Doesn’t she look like a real-life Barbie?!

The tall native grasses and open sky at South 40 Farms are PERFECT for senior photos. Even when the winds kicked up a bit, she was not phased! And it gave such great movement to her hair, dress, and the grass!

On the farm is a large area with tall yellow “rattle” flowers. Even though many had started to shrivel up, we still had several that glowed with the golden afternoon light. Look how adorable Shanah’s orange-red romper is! We didn’t stay here long as we had four more locations to get to, and the sun was starting to set.

On the property is the cutest little white building. It has sliding doors, a metal frame, and large glass windows that swing open. The glowy light hit just right, and yes, that really is her eye color.

After the white building, we drove over to the patch of purple cosmos. They were so pretty and looked amazing against Shanah’s white top & classic denim. I love that she threw on her letterman jacket! Look at all of those patches!

From the cosmos, we zipped over to the tree swing. My seniors love it, and with the colorful leaves, it is the perfect finish to a late fall afternoon. After a few swings back & forth, we walked to the pond and snapped the last images on the dock as the sun was setting. I love that the fountain is in the pond, which also adds a little depth and dimension to Shanah’s images. We had so much fun hanging out on the farm & getting some amazing images! Shanah, I am so glad you are on my team this year, and I hope you had as much fun as I did!
